Friday 2nd October 2015 The Morning Show With Declan Meehan

The show kicked off with a lively chat over the day’s papers with local journalists Mick Kelly of Wicklownews.net and Mary Fogarty of the Bray People. Ex-Ireland Rugby player and Arklow businessman Shane Byrne chatted to Declan ahead of the weekend’s big Rugby fixture – Shane thinks Ireland should do the business in the Pool D match against Italy.
The Brohan Family of Jaconi Crafts dropped in for a chat – they are three enterprising Wicklow kids who have started their own Minecraft business – making merchandise based on YouTubers “skins” of Minecraft figures. Declan had a quick call with Tenor Anthony Kearns who’s just performed for the Pope in the US and is singing in the Grand Hotel tonight.
11- 12pm
Just after news we checked in with Irish-based American law lecturer at NUI Galway Larry Donnelly. He filled us in on the latest developments around gun control in the US following the most recent school shooting tragedy in Oregan yesterday. David from the Happy Pear Greystones was in studio laden down with yummy desserts and filled Declan in on the Family Day and Apple Pie competition coming up soon at the Happy Pear coffee shop soon. Vladimir were in studio with portable piano and two violins – they played some gorgeous tunes and chatted to Declan about their music and their upcoming gig in Mermaid Theatre, Bray tomorrow Saturday. Paul Williams, Crime journalist with the Independent filled Declan in on the latest on crime following the sentencing of raiders in the aggravated burglary of the Corcoran family back in 2013. Larry Blanche from Boyle Sports.com gave Declan a few tips on sporting events and then we rounded off the show with three brothers from Kilcoole who have their own brewing company – O’Brother. They brought in some of their produce for everyone to sample – off air!

We were also joined in studio by Science Man Sean Duke who told us What Snowden got wrong about eavesdropping on aliens, The science behind the Volkswagen emissions scandal and how Holidays on Mars now just decades away and Seargant John Fitzpatrick joins us in studio to fill us in on all the latest local crime news. 11- 12pm Siobhan Donnelly joined us in studio to talk about stirf-ries & kitchen equipment and we were joined in studio by the burns sisters who have travelled from Ithica, New York and will perform in Conary and Greystones. We spoke to Lance Haggith, Founder of charity sports traider which raises money, sporting opportunities and awareness for the disabled and disadvantaged runs several events about a country sports pursuits day. We asked Bob Flavin from the next gear.com about the on-going VW story and we asked Gabriel Dooley about the €10.5 million asking price

We were also joined in studio by Maclean Burke and Fiona Looney to chat about Fiona’s latest play are you there Garth, it’s me Margaret. 11- 12pm We discussed the cost of childcare and the plan for paternity leave with Laura Haugh of Mummy Pages.ie and we heard their budget submissions and we were joined by Laura, Padraig and Rebecca of Sunbream House for our regular feature on what it’s like living with intellectual disabilities, This week the focus was on what it is like to be supporting someone as a job and how you can build a career in Social Care. We were also joined in studio by Kathryn Thomas who talked about travelling the world on TV, Operation transformation, the voice of Ireland and her brand new fitness bootcamp; Pureresults.

Tuesday 29th September The Morning Show with Ciara Kelly 10- 11am We spoke to Paraic Gallagher, Political Correspondent about whispers of a November election and we asked Gerry Byrne, Aviation Journalist and Broadcaster about the emergency landing of an Aer Lingus flight in New York. We also asked David Moore, Astronomy Ireland about water bring found on Mars and we spoke to Bressie about his book ‘Me and my Mate Jeffrey, his new website designed to help people with mental health issues and the return of the voice of Ireland. We also heard from Dr Aileen McGloin, Safefood how the seemingly healthy option of a wrap can actually be as bad for you as a pizza, and how a bagel has as many calories as three slices of bread. 11- 12pm We were joined in studio by the Dublin Gospel Choir who performed live and chatted about the latest gigs and we were joined in studio by Money Watchdog John Diskin who told us about likely budget changes to childcare, pensions, rent and other give away speculations. We also chatted to George Hook about the rugby world cup, his career as a broadcaster, his parents and his plans to euthanise himself should he get sick.

Monday 28th September The Morning Show with Ciara Kelly 10- 11am We spoke to Dr Aoife Brinkley; who works at the child obesity service in Temple Street Hospital about a survey on obese children; which shows that 11% of obese children have suffered severe bullying and 1 in 10 have self harmed and we asked Niall O’Connor, Political Correspondent with the Irish Independent why the Gardai are still using last centuries equipment to fight burglaries. We were joined in studio by Nutritional Therapist Conor Saunders who gave his views on the dangers of psychiatric drugs and we spoke to Former Rugby International Shane Byrne about yesterdays win against Romania and that Wales win. 11- 12pm We asked Fr Martin Cosgrove in Arklow his reaction to a proposed papal visit and we were joined in studio by Ashford Psychotherapist Richard Bury who gives advice on relationships. Sonya Kelly dropped in ahead of her performance in keeping an alien in The Mermaid Theatre on 1-2 October and the Pavilion on 28 - 29 October.
