•We spoke to Wicklow’s equestrian Olympian Mark Kyle and we were also joined by Bray Chamber of Commerce President Ian Donnelly and event Organiser Graham O’ Neill who talked to us about the Olympic party taking place in Bray tonight. Celebrity Chef Neven McGuire chatted to us about taking part in Wicklow Food Festival as part of bray summerfest this weekend.


11- 12pm
•We were joined is studio by Internaitonal Best selling author Cathy Kelly who talked about her career, her latest book “The House on Willow Street” and charity work and we discussed the GM Potato trials with Wicklow potato grower Martin Keogh and Teagasc, Head of Crop Research, John Spink.

•We spoke to May Quaid, President of Active Retirement Ireland about why more and more elderly people are struggling to sleep with worries about crime and the cost of fuel and we discussed divorce with local solicitor Manus Bray. We also talked about a TCD study into the attitudes of cyclists with Trinity researcher, Dr Bidisha Ghosh, and Mike McKillen of Dublin Cycling Campaign.


11- 12pm
•We discussed the dating game and singles finding love with the Modern Matchmaker Avril Mulcahy ahead of her trip to Wicklow’s Grand Hotel this evening and we were joined in studio by Wicklow Chef Siobhan Donnelly who gave advice on easy summer burgers and barbecuing pineapples and vegetarian dishes. We were also joind by singer/songwriter Mick Flannery who chatted about his new album and performed live.

• Declan got a full report on the Madonna concert last night with fan Mick Lynch. Mark Fielding of ISME was on to talk about the effect of ‘nixers’ and the black economy on legitimate businesses, Councillor Tom Fortune filled Declan in on Minister Leo Varadkar’s 36 million Euro boost for CIE. Julie Sutton, a recruiter from Greystones who has been living in Christchurch, New Zealand for 9 years talked about the jobs her company has on offer to Irish people who want to work in New Zealand. Local historian James Scannell dropped by to talk about a lecture today in the Mermaid. Shay Pardy, director of the airshow at the Bray Summerfest chatted to Declan about the show last weekend.


11- 12pm

• Caroline Rowland spoke to us from the centre of the action in the Olympic village in London. She is directing the official movie of the games, and it features only 12 atheletes, including Katie Taylor. News broke today that the Church of Ireland had been successful in the bid to become patrons of the new secondary school in Greystones and we spoke on the phone to Amy Mulvihill of Educate Together, whose bid was unsuccessful. In studio we had Gareth Fennell, parent and Reverend David Mongavin of Greystones who were talking about the successful bid by the Church of Ireland and their hopes for the new school. Sergeant John Fitzpatrick called in to talk about an attempted bag snatch at the Bray Summerfest and then in studio we had young singer-songwriter Rory Quinn perform one of his songs and chat about his upcoming fundraising gig in the Horse and Hound, Delgany.

• Listener Julie-Ann talked to Declan about the second Household Charge letter. We also discussed the proposals for a Property Charge with Blessington-based tax expert Martin Craul. Caroline McGuigan of Suicide or Survive chatted to Declan about a fundraising run Bay to Bray happening this October and we had Damien Lawless in studio who is taking part in the run: the equivalent of 6 full marathons. Local councillors David Grant and George Jones talked about the suggestion that local town councils may be abolished. Susan Roe gave us an update on the school students from Kilcoole and Avondale who have succeeded in climbing Kilamanjaro.

11- 12pm

• Finance expert John Diskin was in studio to come back to some of the issues raised earlier in the programme about the Household and Property Charges. John Fagan, an Irish actor based in London dropped in to chat with Declan about his roles in the Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s outdoor productions of Shakespeare in Powerscourt and Avondale and about his life as an actor in a touring company. Sarah Smith who spoke to the Morning Show in June about her dramatic series of mishaps came on to give us an update on how she was getting on and the kindness of many people who have helped her family out, including Alistair Hill, of Hill’s Garage, Arklow, who also chatted to Declan and Sarah. Dr Ernan Gallagher filled Declan in on the dangers of fake tan to the skin and gave some safety tips for pregnant women using tanning products. Fiona Wynne of the Irish Sun talked about a variety of tanning methods. Declan checked in with Mick Lynch in advance of the Madonna concert in the Aviva this evening.

•We discussed some issues with public transport at yesterday’s air show with Iarnroid Eireann PRO Jane Creegan and Wicklow based listener Patricia. We also heard reaction from National Parents Council Post Primary Press Officer, Jackie O’ Callaghan to comments from the Tipperary Principal who barred a pregnant girl from school, who said he would do the same again and Career Development trainer Kevin O’ Kelly joined us to talk about why you shouldn’t lie on your CV, the importance of choosing the right email address and problems with sharing too much on Facebook.

11- 12pm
•We heard about the magic formula to parenting from Parenting Coach Marian Byrne and we heard gardening advice for this unpredictable and changeable weather from local Gardener John Stephenson. We were also joined in studio by Bray Mayor and Summerfest Organiser Mick Glynn to talk about the positive impact the air show and the Summerfest has on Bray.
