LAURA'S FINAL RESULTS AFTER THE EIGHT WEEK CHALLENGE

Well what an eight weeks its been. It's changed my perception of exercise and losing weight and helped me channel my desire to tone up and lose weight into training hard and enjoying every minute of it. I think one of the biggest lessons that has been taught to me by my personal trainer Ian and all the other trainers in the Raven Gym is that exercise doesn't have to be a chore, it can be really enjoyable, particularly as you start seeing results because they make you push yourself even harder.

With the expert help of The Raven Gym I managed to reach my goal which wasn't about a number weight wise but more about feeling good about myself and fitting into those couple of pairs of jeans that were covered in cobwebs and hadn't been seen or worn since before I had my son Roddy almost two years ago! I did manage to lose 8lbs and 34cm along the way though and drastically improve my fitness which is an added bonus.

I enjoyed the training so much that my competitive side has now really kicked in and I'm looking for my next challenge after Lugnaquilla which I am going to climb on the 19th May for the bone marrow for Leukaemia Trust. After the mini marathon on 4th June I think I'll start training with the help of The Raven for Hell and Back in October (don't even ask what that involves!)

I just want to say well done to all the challengers, what a group of people! We could not have picked a more worthy or hardworking group and congratulations to them all for doing so well. Thank you also to everyone that took the journey with us and well done for all the great results that you achieved. Well done to Rob G- he's been an inspiration with all the hard work and dedication and looks like a bit of a ride himself!!

Also everyone in The Raven Gym particularly Ian my trainer for all the hours that he put in to helping and guiding me and pushing me so that I didn't allow myself to have an easy ride. A nicer bunch of people you'd be hard pushed to meet. Here's to hopefully doing it all again next year with five new challengers and personally trying to keep it up for good! L x

My results in The East Coast FM Get Fit Challenge!

How do! Rob G here and after a gruelling 8 weeks the results are finally in. Before I give you them let me just take this opportunity to thank a man who has been there for me everyday, supported me over 8 weeks, pushed me to beyond what I thought were my limits, taught me how to respect food and exercise and is a ledge of a bloke too! The man I'm talking about is my personal trainer in The Raven Gym Alan Sherry. I know he reads these updates so Alan thanks so much again fella I really appreciate what you have done for me so far and yes I know we are not done so I will be in touch soon :)

Over the past 8 weeks I have been through the toughest exercise regime I have ever experienced and looking back on it I'm delighted to say as hard as it was I loved every minute of it. Don't get me wrong there were times in weeks 1 & 2 when I said to myself "Ah sh*** I have to go to the gym" but after that first couple of weeks passed I WANTED to go to the gym!! I stuck to my diet as best I could and the weeks I went of kilter slightly the weight loss was not as much as I'd hoped, go figure! It's true what they say "You are what you eat"

For those of you who want to see my diet plan check previous blog posts and it's there for you to see. So lets get on with it these are my results. In 8 weeks (55 days)I lost inches everywhere...

Chest 3.4 inches
Waist 3.8 inches
Hips 4.6 inches
Arms 3.0 inches
Thighs 6.2 inches
Calfs 1.6 inches

I lost 7% body fat and a total of 35lbs in 8 weeks, that's just shy of 3 stone ;-)

So there you go that's what I achieved in such a short space of time. Another year of this and I will be a completely different man. Well done also to Laura Wood who is looking amazing by the way and that from the other bloke that sees her first thing in the morning ;-) Also massive congrats to our team leaders Georgina McKenna, David Dunne, Niamh Howe, Irene Doyle and Jenny McEvoy who all did really well and enjoyed the experience. We all lost a combined weight of 9 stone. And finally to Alan, Graham, Kian, Ian, Ger, Anita, Simona and everyone else in The Raven Gym for looking after us and cheering us on every step of the way. If you want to go to a great gym then I can't recommend The Raven Gym highly enough. It's fantastic!!

I'm not finished with this I have only started and for anyone thinking about joining up but wondering if you have the get up and go to do it just remember I felt exactly the same way. Now go have a look at my results again.

Talk to you on the radio,

Rob G

IRENE'S FINAL QUESTIONNAIRE

Irene Doyle's final questionnaire.

How are you feeling?

I am feeling brilliant now, so much better than I did 8 weeks ago. I feel so much fitter and healthier than I have in years.

Are you planning on keeping up the good/hard work?

I will definitely keep up with my fitness plans now that the challenge is over. I am planning on joining the raven gym and sticking with my trainer, Amira and her fitness plan for me.

What are the main changes you've seen in yourself over the 8 weeks?

I am so much fitter, I have bags of energy, I am happier and more confident in myself and generally feeling great!

Are you happy with your final weight/measurements?

I am very happy now. I have lost a total of 1 stone and 12 inches of body fat in total.

Are you ready for Bray Head on Saturday?

I think so! I have some of my family and friends coming with me so it should be a good day!

Have you any helpful tips for our listeners in week 8?

When we have our celebratory drink on Thursday, what will your karaoke song be? ...

I won't be singing karaoke that's for sure! I wouldn't inflict that on people!

... (Suggestions) Ain't no mountain high enough, Eye of the tiger, Chariots of fire ;-)
