•We discussed cafes and fast food outlets possibly being forced to put calories on their menu with Food Safety Authority of Ireland, Public Health Nutrition Chief Specialist Dr Mary Flynn and Finnbees Coffee owner, Paul Finnegan. We also heard reaction to VHI Price hikes from Irish Patients Association, Chairman, Stephen Mc Mahon and also to college registration fees hike from USI President, Gary Redmond.


11- 12am

•We returned to our discussion about calories on menus with local businesses Delbeanys café and Halpins Café giving us their views. We were also joined by Former Rugby International Shane Byrne who talked about this weekends match, his favourite music, his business and life and we spoke to Maeve Shorten and Lara Mullally from St Saviours National School in Rathdrum and Liam Walsh from Avoca National School about being finalists in the Doodle for Google competition.

•We got reaction to Gywneth Paltrows comments about women needing to be stay at home Mums if they choose to have children from blogger Barbara Scully and we got reaction to the cut to exceptional needs grant for Communion and Confimrmation costs from our listeners and Vincent De Paul . Technological Consultant Damien Mulley talked about Facebook floatation and the future access to youtube and we heard if sugar should be taxed like alcohol and tobacco and how harmful it can be from Obesity Expert, Professor Donal O’ Shea.


11- 12am

•We heard good news for Wicklow when Irish Horse Welfare Trust Spokesperson, Debbie Johnson told us about their award winning app and Chef Siobhan Donnelly took the tenner challenge when she headed to supermarkets with €10 to see how many dinners that would cover.

•We got reaction to one Polish woman’s story of living a life of luxury on welfare in Donegal featured in todays Independent from Highland Radio Reporter, Barry White and one of our polish listeners, living in Bray; Marlena Murphy. We also heard about a new successful approach to stopping smoking which has been carried out in the UK and may be adopted here from Irish Cancer Society, Head of Advocacy and Communications Kathleen O’Meara.


11- 12am

•We discussed if Wicklow Gardai have enough squad cars with Garda Representative Association President, Damien Mc Carthy and FG Deputy Billy Timmins and sixth class students from Sacred Heart National School in Aughrim joined us to fill us in on being selected as one of 11 finalist schools in the National “Our World Irish Aid Awards” and top sing their specially written song that makes up part of their project. We also heard good news about the future of local buses and what your mobile phone can do that you didn’t know about including pulling a sickie and opening your car.

•We spoke to Councillor Chris Fox about the misspelling on several signs for Kilmacanogue and we discussed the problems facing listeners living in rural areas because of so many cuts, extra charges, business closure and job loss.

•We discussed the future of local buses ahead with Local Councillors John Brady and Tom Fortune and East Coast Physio Avril Barrett gave advice on knee injuries for those who have overdone their new years return to exercise. We also heard about Wicklow County Enterprise Open Day from WCEB Chief Executive, Sheelagh Daly and Branding Expert, Dr John Fanning who will be one of the speakers on the day. •We spoke to AA Roadwatch’s Conor Faughnan and Irish Rural Link CEO Seamus Boland about the cost of running a family car being at an all time high and we discussed the possibility of energy drilling in Dalkey with Fergus Cahill, Chairman Irish Offshore Operators Association and Simon Berrow, Co-ordinator Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. We also heard the views of Conor Graham, who regularly swims in Killiney and Jason Mc Chesney, Chairman of the Dalkey Business Group and lives in Killiney.

•We heard the latest details following the discovery of the body of a woman in West Dublin at the weekend from Irish Independent Security Editor Tom Brady and Technological Consultant Damien Mulley talked about Facebook in relation to privacy and being floated. We returned to our discussion about motoring costs with Society of Irish Motoring Industry, Director General Alan Nolan and Parenting Coach Marian Byrne gave us career tips for teens.
