•We discussed the Troika meeting with FG Deputy Billy Timmins and heard the view of Dr Andy Story Lecturer in politics and international Relations in UCD & spokesperson for not our debt. We also heard money saving advice with tips on free activities for the weekend, homemade takeaways, cheap packed lunches & weekend breakfasts on budget from Easy Health and Food Editors, Emma Parkin and Dee Laffin.



11- 12am

•We were joined by Derek Pullen and Joan Gregg from Bray One Act Drama festival, who talked about the festival celebrating it’s 35th year, 10 years of Mermaid Arts and drama in Bray and Actor Martin Davdison also joined us to read an extract from one of the plays featured in this years event. The five night festival brings a varied programme of comedy & tragedy, taking place in the Mermaid Arts Centre from Tuesday 24th January to Saturday 28th January. There will be three plays on each evening and tickets are available from the Mermaid on 012724030 or www.mermaidartscentre.ie.

•We discussed the Governments plan to charge homes and businesses a licence fee even without a TV with Technological Consultant Damien Mulley and Greystones resident Ronan who doesn’t own a TV. We also heard tips and advice on clever grocery shopping planning and low cost meals from Chef Siobhan Donnelly and spoke to Athens based Accounting supervisor, Kostas Katsaros about the situation in Greece.

11- 12am

•Irish historian and long standing current affairs and political broadcaster John Bowman joined us to talk about his book celebrating 50 years of RTE “Window and Mirror – RTE television: 1961 – 2011. Holiday Doc Joe Supple dropped in to discuss the return of holidays to Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco and Vet Pete Wedderburn joined us to give his view on restrictive dog laws.

•We heard about last nights public meeting about the septic tank charge from Cllr Pat Doran and discussed the way the charge will work with FG Deputy Andrew Doyle. Technological Consultant, Damien Mulley explained the Wikipedia blackout and local Executive Coach Fintan Mulligan joined us to talk about the free mobile phone lessons he is offering adults in the county, you can contact Fintan on 0868199752.

•We returned to our discussion about Community Employment Schemes in the County and in particular the closure of the National Disabled Angling Facility Aughrim with Independent TD Stephen Donnelly and FG Deputy Billy Timmins. We also heard a view from Cllr Miriam Murphy who worked with the facility in the past and listener Sarah Doyle, as her family use the park and PRO Institute of Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, Daniel Mc Cartney talked about vitamin D and it’s alleged anti-ageing properties.

•We talked to people involved in various Community Employment schemes around the county following the announcement that Aughrim National Disabled Angling Facility will close at the end of this week. We also spoke to Avondale Community College students who won 2nd place at the Young Scientists Exhibition and Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team PRO, Hugh Mc Lindon told us about their new app.

11- 12am

•We returned to our discussion with users, directors and supervisors of Wicklow CE schemes and we spoke to Priory Hall former resident Niall O’ Reilly about their latest news and developments. We were also joined by East Coast Physio Avril Barrett who gave advice for younger sports people and answered listener queries and Money Watchdog John Diskin who gave his views on the future of credit unions.

•We heard why weddings in Wicklow are the most expensive in the country from Alan Joyce, director of Weddingface.com and Parenting coach Marian Byrne dropped in to talk about CAO choices, pink lego and the most popular baby names of 2011. We also discussed motoring costs being at an all-time high with AA policy director, Conor Faughnan.
