• Tom Fortune Chairman of Wicklow Tourism spoke to Declan about events happening around the county for the May Bank Holiday weekend. Alan Blair from Wales told Declan about the Celtic Challenge – the world’s longest rowing race, starting from Arklow this weekend. Rural broadband and television services had our listeners getting in touch and Declan talked to Miles Smith from Avoca about this. David Moore from Astronomy Ireland spoke about this weekends “Big Moon” and Brian Whitehead of the Irish Humanists explained a new proposal which will allow Humanist wedding ceremonies to be recognised as legal marriage. Dan Kennedy of Coolgreany/Johnstown filled Declan in on the 40 anniversary parish celebrations over the weekend.

• Today’s Friday Guest was Gardener John Stephenson who talked about everything from tidy lawns to meeting Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. Barry Orr from Betfair was in as usual for a chat about all the sporting events for the Bank Holiday weekend. Frank Corr of Bray Lions Club filled us in on The Better Bray Challenge launched in Kilruddery House yesterday.
