•Dr Ernan Gallgher spoke to us about the effect 50mg of alcohol compared to 5 times legal UK limit has due to the inquest results on Amy Winehouse’s untimely death and the new drink driving limit. We also heard first hand experience of dealing with a flooded home from listener and flood protection lobbyist Noleen Mc Manus and listener Val Donovan, we also heard advice on dealing with flooding from Insurance Federation of Ireland spokesperson Michael Horan.

•We discussed Danish research that claims breastcheck screening can do more harm then good with researcher and physician Dr Karstin Jorgansen and breast cancer survivor and author Kate Thompson told us her story of how breastcheck may have saved her life.

•Actor Simon Delaney told us about his role in Jerry Springer, the Opera, Donellies Chef Siobhan Donnelly gave us the recipe and history behind hallowe’en favourite; Barn Brack and Vet Pete Wederburn gave more pet care advice to listeners

We also heard the latest presidential odds from Nicola Mc Geady of Boyle Sports and we talked to Bob Flavin, editor and owner thenextgear.com and Paul Davidson of Mr big about how cars are now being made bigger as peoples waistlines grow and shopping for larger clothes.


11- 12am

•We spoke to Vincent Browne about Presidential candidate Sean Gallagher’s lack of availability for his TV programme last night, we heard safety tips for Hallowe’en from local Seargant John Fitzpatrick and we discussed managing as a family member of an addict with Gerard Bennett of Forest Treatment Centre. We also spoke to presidential hopeful Sean Gallagher.

•We spoke to Reporter Louse Kelly from Blessington following the tragic death of local Garda Ciaran Jones during last night’s flooding, we heard tribute to the heroic actions of Garda Jones, the circumstances which led up to the accident and condolences to his family from Wicklow Chief Superintendent Tom Conway. Bill Downes of Wicklow Civil Defence filled us in on other flooding related incidents around the County last night and Bray Cllr Mick Glynn and Wicklow Mayor Pat Byrne gave us details on damage in their parts of the County.

11- 12am

•We heard more on flooding and changes to the driving test from AA’s Conor Faughnan and East Coast Physio Avril Barrett told us how to deal with the bad weather and how it impacts sciatica and arthritis complaints and she gave final tips ahead of the marathon. We also heard clips of the final presidential debate and got reaction from political correspondent Padraig Gallagher.

•We were joined by Authors Emma Hannigan and Alan Nolan and Cllr Mick Glynn for our Start the Week discussion about the latest presidential opinion poll, Katie Taylors success and why cars will soon have to be made even bigger due to our populations expanding waist size. We also heard about the new changes to the driving test from Wicklow motoring teacher Jim Yorke.

•Pareting coach Marian Byrne discussed how much and in what way yoyu should praise your children, Liam Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatricks in Rathew gave his reaction to reports that 1000 rural pubs have closed since 2005 and we heard how the sealife centre in Bray were faring after being seriously effected by flooding.
