The new Fine Gael frontbench was just one of the topics covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We heard comment on the line-up from Political Correspondent, Padraig Gallagher and also spoke to FG Deputy Andrew Doyle about his new frontbench position as Spokesperson on Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

On this morning’s show we got comment on the civil rights bill from Director of GLEN, Brian Sheehan, we got a preview of the weekend world cup matches and we discussed the on-going closure of businesses across the country with Mark FieldiNG, Chief Executive, Irish Small and Medium Enterprise Association.

Today’s Morning Show also featured a discussion about why food prices in Ireland are the second highest in the EU, we returned to this topic with Turloch Denihan, Retail Ireland and Deputy Andrew Doyle. Pat O’ Toole, Irish Farmers Journal also spoke to us about the impact on farmers.

The latest unemployment figures were just one of the issues covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We heard comment on this from Avine mc Nally Acting Director, Small Firms Association and Patricia Shortt, Manager, Wicklow Trade Union Centre for the Unemployed. We also got views from Local Councillors David Grant and Ronan Mc Manus.

On this morning’s show we returned to the issue of dealing with a sex offender living in your area with concerned listeners and Councillor Pat Doran, we spoke to Molly Walsh, Campaign Manager of Friends of the Earth about yesterdays EPA Climate Change Conference and political correspondent, Padraig Gallgher speculated ahead of the announcement of Fine Gael’s all-new Front Bench.


Today’s Morning Show also featured a discussion about the welfare of horses and the on-going issue of abandonment of the animals following an Oireachteas Meeting yesterday. How to deal with a sex offender living in your area was just one of the issues covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. Dr Mary Rogan, Chairperson, Irish Penal Law Reform Trust and Ellen O’ Malley Dunlop, Chief Executive, Dublin Rape Crisis Centre gave us their views on the current system of monitoring and privacy laws for convicted sex offenders. Declan also heard concerns from various Wicklow residents about their on-going campaign to avoid having a sex offender in their area and we spoke to local Councillors Pat Fitzgerald and Tom Fortune. We returned to the issue of the animal welfare Bill on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We spoke Vet, Pete Wederburn and heard views from Deputies Joe Behan (FF), Andrew Doyle (FG) and Sean Sherlock (Lab). We also heard comments from listeners throughout the show.

On this morning’s show we heard a review of the latest World Cup matches, UCC Economics Lecturer Leanne Burke told us why men are happiest when they are single and Councillor Kathleen Kelleher and Seargent john Fitzpatrick talked about recent anti-social behaviour in Greystones.

The Morning show also featured an interview about why Ireland is the second most expensive country in the EU to buy groceries. Turloch Denihan, Director of Retail Ireland and Dermot Jewell, Chief Executive, Chief Executive, Consumer Association of Ireland spoke to us about the research which shows Ireland is almost one-third more expensive than the UK for common items such as bread, milk and meat.

Bray advance after a 5 Goal triller


Wanderers set up a 4th round meeting in the FAI Cup with UCD after beating Derry City 3-2 at the Carlisle last night.

Derry took the lead on 29 minutes when Darren Cassidy netted. Wanderers levelled on 41 minutes when Jake Kelly converted a penalty.

The Seagulls took the lead on 53 minutes when Man of the Match Shane O'Neill slotted home.
The home side were Reduced to 10 men on 63 minutes, Dane Massey seeing Red for two bookable offences

The Candystripes equalized once again on 75 minutes through Patrick McEleney, only for Wanderers to grab the winner 2 minutes later through Shane O'Neill.
