Bray fail the Students Test




Wanderers slumped to their fourth successive defeat in the Airtricity League game at the Belfield Bowl tonight at the hands of UCD.

After a scoreless first half, Ciaran Kilduff scored to give the Students all three points four minutes after the restart to leave the Seagulls rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division.

The rumoured push against the Taoiseach was just one of the topics that dominated today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We heard comment on this from Independent Deputy Joe Behan, local FF councillors Pat Casey and Pat Fitzgerald and political correspondent Padraig Gallgher.

On today’s Morning Show we returned to our discussion on the on-going passport office problems with reporter Sinead Hussey from Molesworth Street, we hear further reaction to the US Healthcare Bill from the gabby cabby and money watchdog John Diskin talked to us about safe investment options.

Students and teachers from Loretto College, Bray joined us in studio to speak and sing in Chinese, they also explained how their school is the first school in Ireland to have a formal Chinese Teaching programme.


The Morning Show also featured an in studio interview with the organiser of 32 marathons 32 days challenge, Wicklow man Alan Earls, we also heard from Gerry Duffy, one of the twenty two runners taking part in the full challenge and East Coast FM’s Anne Kennedy also joined in to tell us about how she is taking part in this extraordinary challenge in aid of Autism Action Ireland. U.C.D. V Bray Wanderers - Team News

Bray Wanderers travel to the Belfield Bowl to take U.C.D in the Airtricity Premier Division.(Friday 26th March. K.O.7;45)

Team News is as follows.
Eddie Gormley welcomes Dane Massey back into the squad for Friday's game against U.C.D. after a one match ban which means the Bray Manager has a full injury free squad to pick from.

U.C.D. are unbeaten at home to Bray Wanderers in the last seven matches in all competitions and have lost just once at home to Bray in eleven games.

Bray have failed to keep a clean sheet against U.C.D.in last twelve meetings between the sides in all competitions.

In other Squad news Bray Wanderers are pleased to announce that Stephen Brennan has signed for the 2010 season. 27 year old Brennan made 33 appearances for the Seagulls in 2009.

I Caught up with Eddie Gormley and began by asking him about last weeks defeat at the hands of Sporting Fingal.

The continuing passport office fiasco was just one of the topics covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. Declan heard a live update report from reporter Sinead Hussey on Molesworth street and we got comment from FG deputy Billy Timmins who met with the Head of the Passport Office at yesterdays Oireachtas Committee meeting.

On today’s Morning Show we discussed today’s closure of Welfare offices with Manager of Wicklow Trade Union Centre for the Unemployed, Patricia Shortt, heard why there is a delay opening the road from Rathnew to Wicklow from local Councillor Conal Kavanagh and we got the good news that Limerick pubs will now be allowed to open on Good Friday of this year from Independent Councillor John Gilligan.

The show also featured a discussion about living with mental illness, recovering schizophrenic Richard Magee talked to Declan about how he started to feel better, we also heard from local councillor Simon Harris and got advice for people struggling with mental illness from National Projects Manager with Shine, Kahlil Thompson Coyle. Yesterday’s cabinet Reshuffle was just one of the topics covered in todays Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We heard reaction from Deputies Liz Mc Manus, Billy Timmins, Joe Behan and Minister Dick Roche.

We returned to the passport office fiasco with reporter Sinead Hussey from Molesworth Street and spoke to several people from the queue on the street and inside the passport office and we caught up with Bray woman Sharon O’ Callaghan at the Headshop protest which took place at the Dail at 11am today.

The Morning show also featured a discussion on Wicklow spring lamb, when we talked to Enniskerry Sheep Farmer Michael Keegan about his work and lambing season. We also heard tips on choice cuts and cooking from award winning chef Catherine Fullvio and advice on choosing the best accompanying wine from Sunday Tribune Wine writer John Wilson.


Declan spoke to Greystones Councillor Simon Harris about public information night he is hosting. People attending can expect information and advice on further/adult education opportunities, employment seeking tips and entitlements for people who have lost their job or who are pursing further education. The public service go-slow was the main topic covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. Wicklow branch IMPACT official, Stephen O’ Neill and Wicklow Ceatherlach Pat Vance discussed the issue and how it is affecting the public. We also heard a report on the latest with the passport office from Molesworth street.

On today’s Morning Show Declan discussed business social networking site Linkedin coming to Ireland with technological consultant Damien Mulley, discussed the US healthcare bill and heard about a planned protest against headshops which is taking place outside the Dail tomorrow morning at 11am.


The show also featured an in studio discussion about on-line businesses with internet entrepreneur turned author Aisling Mackey. Aisling gave advice to anyone considering starting up a business on the net and talked about her new book “Click Through -A practical guide to starting and running your business online”.
