The Morning Show with Declan Meehan, Friday 10th September

Friday 10th September
The Morning Show with Declan Meehan

The on-going controversial plan to burn the holy muslim book of the Koran in Florida on the 9th anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks was just one of the topics covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We heard comment on this from political analyst Susan Philips and American born local councillor Kathleen Kelleher.

Today’s Morning Show was broadcast live from the Festina Lente Foundation in Bray to help celebrate some of the community service programmes in the county. We were joined by spokespeople from shuttleknit, living life counselling and the organic farm and ecology centre who told us about their services and how they help the community. We also heard from Pauline Fahy from the Brockagh Resource centre in Laragh, the Marian Centre and many other community service groups. Local politicians Deputies Joe Behan and Andrew Doyle and Cllr Barry Nevin also joined is in Festina Lente to review the days papers and news stories of the week.

The show also featured a discussion about claims from the Samaritans that the cost of GP’s can be a deterrent to high risk mental health sufferers looking for help. Declan heard thoughts on this from Samaritans Ireland Director Suzanne Collins and Local GP Dr Ciara Kelly. Today is National Suicide Prevention Day. If you need help with your mental health please contact the Samaritans on 1850 60 90 90 or or Suicide or Survive on 1890 577 577 or
