The Morning Show with Declan Meehan, Friday 23rd July

Friday 23rd July
The Morning Show with Declan Meehan

The plan to save €500 million in the state’s 34 local authorities was just one of the topics covered on today’s Morning Show with Declan Meehan. We heard comment on possible cuts to county and town managers and the suggested introduction of extra levies from local councillor George Jones and Minister Dick Roche.

Today’s Morning Show was broadcast live from the Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford. We were joined in Avoca by Mount Usher Head Gardener, Sean Heffernan. We also talked about local fishing with John Wilding, Vartry Anglers Conservation Club and heard all about the Devils Glen Wodland Sculptures from Collte’s Clodagh Duffy and Michael Carey, author of “If Trees Could Talk”.

Author and local resident Sheila Clarke also joined us in Mount Usher to discuss the history of the Ashford, holiday doctor Joe Supple gave us some value travel tips and Money Watchdog John Diskin gave us advice on shopping for health insurance.
