The Morning Show with Declan Meehan, Wednesday 26th May

Wednesday 26th May
The Morning Show with Declan Meehan

Laura Wood dived straight in today as guest presenter of The Morning Show when she spoke to one of Ireland’s top crime journalists; Paul Willams had all the details on yesterday’s major drugs arrests in Spain including the involvement of the man regarded as the country’s largest supplier. The conversation then turned to the shocking closure of a quarter of all hospital beds, as Wicklow’s Fine Gael T.D. Billy Timmins slammed the cutting of frontline services.

Mobile phone use behind the wheel was top priority for Conor Faughnan next, as he discussed a new study revealing the high numbers of drivers who still admit to talking whilst on the road, and the Principle of Ashford Primary School spoke to us about the decision of the Catholic Primary School Management Association to raise fees. The harrowing story of child abuse in Irish swimming was then brought to us by Justine Mc Carthy. Justine is an award winning journalist and in her latest offering ‘Deep Deception’, she highlights the grisly facts of sexual exploitation of children throughout Ireland.

Finally, the mood in the Morning Show studio was lifted with a visit from Personal Trainer Kate Ryan who helped us get in shape for summer, before a live session with warm-hearted band, The Vibes whose single in aid of AWARE is out on Friday.
