The Morning Show with Declan Meehan, Tuesday 25th May

Tuesday 25th May
The Morning Show with Declan Meehan

The controversial subject of stem cell research had tempers flaring in the studio as the Morning Show with Declan Meehan kicked off today. We heard from a senior researcher with the Irish Stem Cell Foundation, while Independent Senator Ronan Mullen was vocal in his opposition. The issue of littering in the Garden County was the next hot topic on the programme as Moira Byrne from Wicklow County Council told us of the authority’s attempts to clear up our beaches after the recent warm spell.

The weather forecast was followed by the forecast for Ireland’s economy as CEO of the ISME Mark Fielding discussed when we can expect the first green shoots of prosperity and Dublin City Marathon hopefuls got some helpful tips for their training from Dr. Brendan O’Shea.

Shankill Professor, Patrick Davey then shared his experiences of setting up a university in Uganda before the Irish education system came under the spotlight as the conversation steered towards the Leaving certificate and our panel of experts considered the possibility of a modular approach to course work. The show finally closed with a piece of music from Wicklow singer, Laun Parle ahead of her forthcoming gig in Conary on Sunday night.
