The Morning Show with Declan Meehan, Friday 28th May

Friday 28th May
The Morning Show with Declan Meehan

An Airport for Arklow, Water for Wicklow and trouble-shooting for teens, Laura Wood had a busy three hours on The Morning Show today. The money doctor, John Lowe got the conversation started, with his predictions for VHI customers following yesterday’s announcement that the Government is to sell the health insurance giant. The mayor of Arklow, Peter Dempsey then discussed proposals to locate a new international airport in the Garden County and the Vice Chair of the Blessington forum, filled in us on the details of a new water supply scheme.

Remarkable 91-year-old author Isolde Mc Cullagh brought the studio to a standstill next, as she revealed the exercise secrets that keep her sprightly in her new book ‘Never Too Old’. We also got the lowdown on the weekend’s sport from East Coast FM’s Michael Sargent, top tips on parenting from journalist Sheila Wayman and gave away tickets to the make-over show at the Arklow Seabreeze Festival.

In the final hour of the show, Eurovision winner Paul Harrington dropped by; he was joined on the phone by this year’s hopeful Niamh Kavanagh as they looked forward to Saturday’s finals and Avoca-man Damien Parle explained his life-changing decision to donate one of his kidneys to his brother. The day ended on a high note with a sneak preview of singer Sinead Madden’s single ‘Impossible Dream’ which is being launched tonight in Dublin.
